Bowflex Extreme?
I saw a commercial yesterday on the boxflex extreme and I was very impressed. I wanted to know if anyone can share their experiences on this machine if they have any and I wanted to know if those "power rods" are safe and is it possible for them to snap?
The power rods are safe. I have never heard of any of them snapping.
Bowflex advantage is that it will let you do a lot of different exercises with one piece of equipment. On the down side, those numbers that they quote for resistance are not comparable to pounds for a number of reasons. The resistance is progressive in that it gets harder as you go further into the exercise. The company claims this is better but IMHO that is just because that is all their equipment can do. The unit will take up a good deal more space than they claim as well. It is completely addequate for most things but lacks adequate resistance for things like dead lifts, leg presses or squats. It cannot be set up for full squats.
It is like any other piece of equipment in that you will get out of it exactly what you put into it.
