
should i do boxing or some sort of grappling?
Im 6 foot 1, kinda strong, little fat, meddiocor quickness in terms of punching so im leaning towards grappling, now my problem with grappling, is there are a number of moves you have to do and i have a hard time thinking of things really fast so if i have to incorperate this in a real life scenario would it not work cause i have to think fast of what moves i should do to deffend myself or would it come naturally, my coordination sucks and im not a quick thinker but my reflexes are okay, so do you think i should do grappling or boxing/kickboxing, if i do grappling im thinking of doing hapkido what do you think?
Boxing is a great discipline. It teaches foot work, which is the foundation of every legitiment martial art. If you are willing to do the cardio and the practise, it is great. Also, grappling is great, but for the bar, you don't always want to be on the ground choking someone or doing an arm bar. People have friends in bars and they might come from behind with knife while you are spread out on floor. Sprawl and brawl.
