my 4 year old cousin found a butterfly. is there anyway i can preserve it.?
its wings are damaged pretty good. the butterfly body and head are still attached. the wing damage is just from the wind.
my father in law used to catch butterfies for my daughter who is now 15 ans we have done a few interesting things here goes 1,buy a photo frame get some coloured backing paper deorate with glitter or anything and seal it will be theres forever and you can even put the wing back together if you have all of it. 2,get some wax paper place on ironing board wax side up place butterfly on sprinkle a few pieces of grass or flower petals put another piece of wax paper wax side down this time place a teatowel or something not to thick over the top and iron with a hot iron and put in a frame or use it as bookcovering or wrapping paper this can be done with anything leaves sand etc for a fantastic result kids will love it.
but these options are assuming the butterfly is dead depending on its size you may need to let it dry out for 2-5 days so its not squishy.
