
Why did I got weaker on benching when I switched from bench to machine chest press and back ?
I used to be able to bench 115 lbs 10 times easily, I switched to machine vertical chest press at 120 and moved up to 125 and to 130.
I switched back to benching 3 weeks later, and I could barely do 115lbs at all, I can do it 10 times, but i start to struggle
But when I went up from 115lbs to 130 lbs on vertical chest press
(not my weight, im talking about the lbs that i lift)
Machines don't work as many muscles as doing free-weights does.
When your using a machine you don't need to use balance. This means you aren't working the muscles you use to keep the bar balanced and from falling over,etc.
Go back to doing regular bench press. You'll gain some of the muscle back.
