
What is better for increasing flexibility: yoga or pilates?
I'm getting more serious about dance and I would really like to become more flexible (better extensions, better back flexibility, etc). I would also like to strengthen my core. Should I take yoga or pilates? Both? Something else?
I would say combine them and add some traditional stretching as well. Don't over do it by doing both programs to their complete extent. As far as traditional stretching, hold each stretch longer, for a minimum of 20 seconds. Don't eat or drink right before stretching either. Good luck!
