Is the british flag design on some MiniCoopers a decal?
I'm looking into purchasing a 2002 MiniCooper (I found it online for a really good price!), but the roof and side mirrors have a british flag design. I'm wondering if those designs are probably decals, or if Mini paints them on?
If there is ANY chance that this thing is painted on, I'm not interested in the car. So are there any Mini owners out there? Or, more specifically, any with roof designs that are painted on? Thanks.
I had a mini, and I bought (online, and it might have been Ebay) British Flag mirror covers for mine.
These were molded plastic covers that fit right over the mirror covers on my car. I used heavy duty adhesive tape to make them stick. I didn't have it on the top, but I believe that was a decal that a dealer could put on.
I did have the checkerboard for a while, and the kit I bought was magnetically backed, so the individual black squares just stuck to the roof magnetically. I never had a problem with them moving, but they did leave a little residue on the white top that I never could get off, so I removed them and never used them again.
I'm sure a talented auto airbrusher could paint on one, but you should consider that it could affect the resale value given your lack of ability to remove it like you could a decal.
