I just bought a cheap foam sleeping mat for camping...?
and it has a thin layer of aluminium insulation on one side and just foam on the other. My Question is; which side faces the ground? the foam or the insulation?
Thanks
The aluminum goes down, the foam on top. The aluminum will reflect your body heat back up at you through the foam. It will offer some small protection against ground cold, too. But if you're winter camping, put down a layer of sawdust or straw under your tarp before setting up your tent. This will help with softness and warmth.
