In comparing dumbbells vs resistance bands, to how heavy of a dumbbell weight can i get with the bands?
I want to try workout at home and I don't wanna buy a full dumbbell set. I can get to a pretty high weight in dumbbells, so are bands a good enough option?
typically resistance bands are good for toning, but tough to actually build muscle. resistance bands can provide resistance throughout the motion, but making sure to maintain great motion is crucial to benefit most from the band.
consider both options and try to find a used sports equipment store. Essentially you can "trade" in your older dumbbells for heavier ones until you find a good medium.
As for having a "set" of dumbells, you'll find that you should be able to perform the majority of your workout with a small range of dumbbells and normalize to a few dumbells in any case.
