Is kickboxing and wrestling a Martial art ?
I want to know is kickboxing or wrestling a martial art ? i think it is but dont know for certain .
The correct terminology for Kickboxing and Wrestling is combat sports. So, this fits a lot of different things like: Boxing, Judo, Brazillian Jiu Jitstu, Sambo, San Shou, Muay Thai, Mixed Martial arts, etcetra.
The martial arts would be more: Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Kung-fu etectra.
But, this is splitting hairs, wrestling and kickboxing are both arts that can be use for fighting and self-defense just like martial arts. So, they all fall in the general category of "martial arts" to your average person.
The differences between the two are obvious, one is use as a sport with rules-referees-winner/losers all that, the other is for self-defense no-rules fighting.
But, technically Kickboxing and Wrestling are combat sports not martial arts.
