I just replaced the struts on my Outback and now they make knocking / grinding noises when I turn the wheel.?
I know I must have done something wrong, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out what it is. I marked aimed the top plates out correctly, I replaced the upper bearing mounts, I torqued the lower bolts to 125 ft lbs, I made sure to put the rubber bushings back onto the top of the coils. I'm stumped. Any help?
Thank you all for your input so far. I know it's not the CV. The sound has to do with the springs making noises. I can hear it reverberate through them. There was a convex washer that I put under the top plate, but I wonder if it was supposed to go above it. I neglected to notice where it was when I was taking it apart.
Look to see how close the strut assembly is to the body if it's less then 1/4 of an in. then you put the plates in wrong. Try to rotate them to move the assembly away from the body.
