How many hours of running in training would it take to prepare to finish a marathon run?
That would depend how long it would take the runner to adapt to the training and how fast they were running. Most training programs (the most basic) are designed for a runner already running 20 miles a week. They also require that you run 4 times a week. With that as a starting point, they slowly increase 1 run to 20 miles. It would depend how long it took you to get to the point you could run 20 miles a week but once you got there you'd have to run about another 440 miles. Miles have to be used as the criteria because the race is a certain amount of distance not a certain time. If you run 8 minute miles and somebody else runs 10 minute miles then they are going to spend more hours training.
