What legal action should I take if I have a tenant selling drugs?
I live in the city of Los Angeles. I own a multi-unit apartment building. I have reports from other tenants that my "problem" tenant is involved in prostitution and selling drugs. I drove to the local police station with a witnessing tenant and explained the situation to a detective. No written report was taken. I was advised by the detective to email her next week. They might put the problem tenant under surveillance. Is there anything more that I can request be done?
no, you've done it. It's out of your hands now. Make sure you send the email though and in it clearly reiterate that you're notifying the police of this crime. Keep a copy of the email in a safe place.
