Why can't you buy a non-slip differental with a 4 cyl Ranger?
I want to buy a new Ford Ranger with a 4 cylinder and get a non-slip differential, but they say you have to get the V-6 to get the differential. Is this a marketing thing or is their a performance issue?
Umm, all you can get is a non-limited slip axle on the 4 cylinder Ranger. Non-limited slip = open diff , Limited Slip = Trac-loc or positraction. I think you have the terms mixed up.
Anyway there's little reason for a limited slip in a 4 cylinder Ranger, they don't make enough power to really warrant one. With that said you can get one installed. Ford does make a Trac-loc unit for the 7.5 inch axle, which is what the the 4 banger Ranger has. It's popular among the V6 Mustang crowd.
