What do you think of somebody who stops training in a martial art as soon as they reach black belt?
A friend of mine passed his black belt grading in tkd a few weeks ago and doesn't train anymore now, said hes joining up a new martial arts style because his goal was just to get to black belt in tkd
but black belt is not the end of training surely ?
Your friend isn't very passionate about Taekwondo, if all his reason to stop was because he achieved black belt. As all the other people said, black belt is only the beginning to the path of mastery. People who quit in the middle have a weak mindset, for not trying to aim higher. If this is his mindset from the very beginning, it would be better if he didn't start Taekwondo at all. Afterall, his skills are going to rust in a few years. A real martial artist goal is mastery, not black belt.
