Should I let her wear training pants or not?
When potty training, is it best to let toddler go without anything on her bottom half or let her wear training pants? Also, how long during the day should she go without wearing a diaper? I'm just starting to train my 22 month old daughter. Thanks.
I have 4 children and potty training was very challenging as they all had to be taught in different ways that worked for them. One main thing to see if your child is even ready to begin potty training is if your child is staying dryer longer and when she goes she goes a lot, this means your child's bladder has matured enough where she will have some control over it. I found about every 1 1/2 - 2 hours I would take my child to his/her potty and sit them on it with their favorite toys make little pee sounds and talk about how big boys/girls go potty in here (bathroom). I used pull ups and at the beginning it was frustrating sitting in the bathroom making pee sounds, running some water, encouraging the child to pee, and after 10 minutes finally pulling up the pull up or diaper and as soon as its on the child pees :/ After doing this continually after about the 2nd or 3rd day I was fortunate enough to get them to pee on the potty and than I made such a huge deal about it. I cheered, praised the child, lots of kisses, lots of clapping, and did a little dance and continued the encouragement. I also found telling the child when I had to go to the bathroom and mommy was being a "big girl" helped with them to understand this is how it's done. I had a heck of a time potty training my mildly autistic son and I tried everything! Pull-ups, the pull-ups that are suppose to give the child a cold feeling when they pee, wearing just underwear, and even being naked! None of these things worked and I just kept taking him to the potty every 1 1/2 - 2 hours and I started taking him to the bathroom when his brother went and that's what worked! I found it was easier to get the children on the potty when they had to poo because they would start grunting or hiding as the started to go and that's when I grab them take off their diapers/pull-ups and put them on the tolite. All my children where potty trained in #2 before #1 for them it was a starting stone.
My sister used to take her daughter in with her and would sit her daughter on the potty when she did, about every hour or so, and that's how my sister potty trained her daughter.
I wish you the best of luck
