What do I need to know to design and create Ultra light air crafts?
I know the dangers, and I'm not taking this lightly. I know I will most likely need a bachelors degree in Aerospace engineering, but is there anything else that will help me on my way to designing a powered parachute or a powered hang glider. Something like that?
Josh, respectfully, what makes you believe you can do a better job than people that are highly educated, highly experienced, and have produced proven aircraft? You can buy ready to fly powered parachutes and hang gliders.
Here is a question for you. Of the two types of flying vehicles mentioned in your question, what do you see that is lacking in their designs?
Let's look at a powered parachute. I know one way to improve the performance. Since weight is the enemy of all aircraft, I would make the frame that holds the engine and pilot out of titanium. Will reduce the weight by at least 25%. Sound great, until you factor the additional cost of the material and the extra labor costs. My powered parachute offers more performance, but the price point is beyond what people wish to afford.
Just something to think about.
Good Luck
